Welcome to United Judo of Tampa

Judo members,

Welcome to United Judo of Tampa.

We are currently getting all the paperwork together that has been requested by the YMCA in order to make it official and legal.  The good news is that we plan to start back up on the first Saturday of the new year - the 2nd of January 2016.

I am sorry for the interruption in the classes but assure you that it will be for the better. We now plan to be able to offer additional classes for our members, not just on Saturdays but midweek classes too. We will let you know when those will begin. We will also be able to have the instructors that you know and love like John Desmet and Russ Odegard fill in for me when I am unable to be there and to whom I am very grateful for helping and supporting us in our new endeavor.

I will keep you all informed if there are any unexpected changes but we do not anticipate any. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season. I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Sensei Andy

We are starting to get some inquiries from judo students both from within our class and from students within Florida School of Judo regarding our split from them. First, I want to make it clear that I have no ill will or bad feelings towards FSOJ or it's students. I think it's fair to say that we were just heading down two different paths.

I would also like it to be known to all students including FSOJ students that we have an open door policy. We welcome anyone and everyone that wants to train with us. We will not ask you to stop training anywhere else and train with us only. Nor will we ask you to change your USA Judo membership to our school in order to workout with us. We really don't care who you are affiliated with or who you train with. You will always be welcome in our no matter what.
